Kitty Cake~ Abigail's 6th Birthday!
I asked my neice what kind of cake she wanted and she said, "A kitty like mittens!" She has a grey kitten that she just got this fall and adores him. And here's how it turned out!
I use a white "fun-fetti" cake with buttercream frosting and covered in fondant. Also, the cat's head is shaped from rice crispy treats. :)

Psalm 1 ~Tree Birthday Cake
This cake I made today for my brother-in-law, Jeff! :) He loves Psalm 1 and when I was thinking of what cake to make this is what kept coming to me. He is such a tree firmly planted in Jesus! :) Happy Birthday Jeff!
Psalms 1
1 Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, 2 but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night. 3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers.

Grandma Kaye's German Chocolate Frosting
I made this for my mother-in-law for her Birthday today. I used her recipe. It's the best german chocolate frosting in the entire world. I guarantee when you make it you'll be licking the bowl and will loose all self-control. So good.
After having this, you'll never settle for the store-boughten can of german chocolate frosting. This is something amazing for your taste buds!
Here's the frosting family recipe...
1 cup Evaporated Milk
1 cup white sugar
3 egg yolks
1/2 cup butter
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/3 cup flaked coconut
1 cup chopped pecans
1 cup mini chocolate chips (or shave a Hersey bar for garnish)
Combine the first 5 ingredients in a sauce pan and cook over medium heat. You will need to stir and stay with it the whole time. Cook until it starts to boil about 12 minutes.
Remove from heat add flaked coconut & pecans. (Mama Kaye says chopped walnuts are great too!) Spread over cake and sprinkle with chocolate chips. Enjoy. And I'm sure you will!

Malachi, my nephew, loves salamanders. Not only salamanders, but frogs, lizards, and every other type of amphibian ever created! So for his birthday I wanted to make him a Tiger Salamander cake.

I love him. He was so fun to make. David loved helping. He was pretty excited when he saw the basic body and kept saying, "He needs stripes...." :)
